Meet GrapheneWorks’ founder

Suzanne Donnelly

Suzanne Donnelly is a trained physiotherapist who qualified in Ireland over 20 years ago.  She has worked between Ireland, New Zealand and England since qualifying, predominantly in private practice.  In 2011, Suzanne completed a Masters in Advanced Neuromusculoskeletal Science in Kings College and it was here she became particularly interested in understanding the link between pain, the mind, the body and performance. Since then, this has been a passion.

In 2020, during the pandemic, Suzanne, along with a psychologist colleague, began advising certain organisations in the financial sector on how they can help manage employee wellbeing in the face of a global pandemic.

During this time, she became fascinated by the fact that organisations were spending millions, and often seemed to feel like they were ticking a box on wellbeing initiatives, with no idea of what was effective or not. When speaking to senior directors of these organisations, it seemed the word “wellbeing” almost elicited an eye rolling emotion filled with frustration. Although everyone could see how important employee mental and physical health was, few appeared to know if any initiatives they were implementing were having a positive or negative impact on employee wellbeing. Organisations wanted to measure, not only subjectively but also objectively the impact of wellbeing initiatives on employee health and wellbeing.

Suzanne was often tasked with finding an objective tool which would offer wellbeing insights, but unfortunately found that while many great and exciting corporate programs were available, almost all were somewhat exclusive in that only one device brand was available.

With inclusivity in mind, she founded GrapheneWorks, a platform that offers multi-device analytics.

Being a long term user of both the Whoop strap and the Withings watch, and understanding the pros and cons of both, she felt that it was essential  that any objective testing needed to be inclusive and therefore open to as many devices as possible. This data collection needed not to be a threat to an employee, this initiative was developed to enhance employee experience and wellbeing; not to allow employers to become big brother! The primary aim of GrapheneWorks, was to allow organisations understand and improve employee wellbeing by allowing them understand the current state of the workforce as well as directing energy to wellbeing initiatives which were most impactful.

There is no doubt, this is a passion project, it will continue to evolve to keep up to date with modern technology but promises to be revolutionary, insightful and people-centric at all times.  The platform is innovative, and will provide companies with real time analysis, as well as expert advice and support to provide tailor made wellbeing initiatives to maximise the employee’s mental and physical health, and therefore reap the rewards of a high performing work force.
